Lead acid batteries are usually discarded because of short life span. Ninety percent of the batteries get sulfated loose capacity and fail. Lead sulfate is formed due to chemical reaction between the lead plates and the sulfuric acid during the normal discharge of a lead acid battery. Whilst recharging lead sulfate is dissolved back into the electrolyte, but a small fraction adheres to the battery plates and subsequently hardening of the lead sulfate on the battery plates. This hard sulfate can not be dissolved back into the electrolyte by ordinary battery charging. This is a slow aging process and starts in a new battery, as a result a gradual loss of useful electrolyte and plate material is observed.This causes, the battery plates to get coated with hard crystalline sulfates and the specific gravity of the electrolyte to drop, flow of the current is restricted because of insulating layer of sulfates and a battery which normally can not be charged with a battery charger is declared ‘dead’ and scrapped.

Sulfating, cause the battery plates to heavily corrode, and the plate materials fall to the bottom of the battery this is called shedding. It takes place because of high porosity in car battery plates to maximize surface area and thereby allow maximum discharge required for starting of the engine. Sulfating enters the porous cavities of the plates, and it becomes hard, and expands greatly breaking the plates hence, with low amount of plate area it is not possible to revive a dead automobile battery. Traction battery plates are of solid construction not having the porous qualities of automotive batteries. These batteries discharge huge amounts of amperage over a long duration as their plates are quite large, thick and heavy. Shedding is absent because the battery plates are not porous. Sulfating coats and insulates the exterior of the plate, not allowing the battery to charge or discharge. High temperatures are recorded of sulfated batteries because of the high resistance and insulation and excessive current drain. And since the plates are not heavily corroded, it is comparatively easier to rejuvenate a traction battery and revive a discarded battery. Use of the discharge / charge cycles, re-strengthening the electrolyte, and allowing the battery to return to normal state. In the absence of sulfating, battery is always stronger and life of the battery is increased very much and running time of the battery operated vehicles/Forklifts / Golf Carts etc. is increased. The battery replacement cost is also reduced with increase in the strength of the batteries.

UPS systems use (Sealed Maintenance free) battery. Some of these batteries have liquid electrolyte and others have jelly, they have no need to check water level. But these SMF batteries are not completely sealed and do emit gasses and the electrolyte level goes down they also loose capacity due to sulfating. The capacity of UPS batteries gradually diminishes as the battery becomes old and a time comes when these batteries have to be replaced. The UPS batteries use superior quality materials in its construction still sulfating is the main cause of failure. Therefore these batteries easily rejuvenate and respond well to the Reviver treatment.
What is Reviver ?
Reviver is a compact small electronic device, Employing microprocessor Technology, it is guaranteed to dissolve sulfate crystals back into the battery’s electrolyte solution. Reversal of sulfating accumulation in the existing batteries, and also prevents sulfating formation in new batteries.
The working of the Reviver technology is as follows :-
Electrical pulses are injected at a frequency which is equivalent to the resonant frequency of the sulfate crystals with a fast voltage rise and short duration of D.C. As a sulfate crystal resonates, it is able to become ionized and reform back into the electrolyte as an active material. Battery plates stay clean, providing more power, faster recharge speed, and cooler charging temperatures. And due to the complete absence of sulfating, there is no aging effect, and this results into an extraordinary long life of the battery.
The Reviver electronically dissolves sulfating formations back into the electrolyte solution without taking the battery out of service. Reviver products are be used as a preventive maintenance tool, to prevent the battery from mechanical damage caused due to sulfating. The Reviver units can be used to rejuvenate and maintain all types of Lead acid batteries weather it is an ordinary cell, a Sealed Maintenance Free (SMF) battery, a heavy duty Traction battery or a Stationery cell.
Product Specification
The Reviver units are manufactured according to the approved International Standards. The rating can be continuous or intermittent. The Reviver current is between 0-4 Amp and the Reviver frequency is 8000-12000 cycles/sec. All units are auto-activated when the battery is receiving charging current and automatically stop when charging stops. This is seen by the switching on and off of the LED lamp. One Reviver can rejuvenate a number of batteries connected in series or parallel if the total voltage and Ampere hour ratings are suitable to the unit.

The Reviver products are epoxy molded, shock resistant, water proof and can withstand high ambient temperatures. The products carry a guarantee of one year from the date of purchase. Replacement of the unit is provided if found defective within one year from the date of sale.
It is easy to connect a Reviver :
Connect the red wire of the Reviver unit to the positive terminal and black wire to the negative terminal of the battery. Make sure that the battery voltage corresponds to the Reviver voltage. Now charge the battery as usual.
